Kift: Simon Williams

I’m a communications consultant and trainer, lecturer in digital and campaign communications at Cardiff University and a journalist and photographer specialising in environment, outdoor activities and green travel.

I’ve edited, designed, coded and advised on hundreds of digital projects. I’ve written for newspapers and magazines, managed social media campaigns, designed brochures and posters, and trained communications professionals.

Clients and employers have included Friends of the Earth, The National Union of Journalists, The Wales Council for Voluntary Action, WWF, The Media Trust, The Sunday Times, The Financial Times, The Western Mail, Casio, Kodak, Intel, Chelsea College of Art, Gwent Police, Newport, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion councils. And many, many other businesses, charities and organisations.

Which means by now I’m actually pretty good at understanding and formulating business or campaign goals, turning them into achievable communications strategies, and producing the search-optimised and shareable website and social media content to bring them to life.

I like low-cost and open source tools, strong collaboration and functional creativity. I’ve a good understanding of community and audience engagement, a functionalist approach to clean and graphical design, know my HTML, CSS and PHP, and am comfortable building websites in WordPress and Drupal.

Oh, and when I’m not working, I love playing in the mountains and seas of Wales and beyond.

If you think I can help your project, please get in touch.
